[EKIBEN DATA] *EKIBEN = a box lunch sold at train stations or on trains.
SADO TOKI-MEKI bento
Bought at the Niigata station; Joetsu-SHINKANSEN, Shinetsu-line, Hakushin-line, and Echigo-line.
* “TOKI” means a Japanese crested ibis (a kind of bird which inhabits Sado island). “TOKIMEKI” means palpitation or heart beating, in Japanese. It’s a play on words.

This is the EKIBEN which featured the Japanese crested ibis of Sado. The box is filled with the special food products of Niigata.
Because it features a Japanese crested ibis, form of the rice has a shape of the Japanese crested ibis, and its picture is printed in kamaboko (boiled fish paste). The bag of half-split chopsticks is form of the Japanese crested ibis too.
I hope that the number of Japanese crested ibises increases again, like a catchphrase which is printed on the box, “Fly to the sky of Sado! “.
